A first...

I have been scrapping for 2 years now. I started this time, two years ago, just before the delivery of my baby boy... and now he is a running, jumping monkey. And in my 2 years of scrapping, I have not created anything for myself. Not until now :) So here's my first gift, to myself.

This photo was taken by my wedding photographer Brian Ho from the thegaleria.com at the end of my wedding luncheon, while hubby and I were thanking our guests. I created a shadowbox for it, to sit alongside the Mother's Day gift my son made for me. Hopefully... this would be a first, and not the only, or the last. I hope to eventually fill my home with milestone photos of my family :)

So yep, i'll stop here, and let the photos do the talking.

I love the details, and that moment captured, do you? :)

Almost mine :)

I almost couldn't part with this, haha. But I did, anyway.

This is a 12x12 I created in a class and it is now going to Cheryl Rodda, cos her swap partner flaked on her. So yes... you read it right. I angelled yet again. I created this layout "blind". As in, I do not know what Cheryl is gonna use it for, and I don't have a photo to work with. So basically I just embellished a page, and left a photo mat for a photo that Cheryl can fill in herself when she receives it.

But for the sake of photography and display on the blog, I just temporarily inserted a photo of my own to complete the look :)

This was taken on my wedding day. Hubby came to pick me up, but I was too busy with my Wii and didn't wanna leave just yet haha.

Some close up on details... And yep. That's about it :)

Hope you like it Cheryl!

Dileen ~ Simple Joys

Yoohoooo... *echo* lol. I wonder if anyone is still here. anyway, some months back i mentioned that I made a 12x12 lauout for an intern of mine. And here it is :) Late... but well better than never right?

That ripped distressed look on the top left is done by gluing kitchen towels onto textured cardstock, then inking. the glue will act as a resist.

So yep, a quick blogspot here. Will just let the images speak for themselves!

In Loving Memory of Avery Lynn Canahuati 11/11/11 - 30/04/12

"Imagine you've been diagnosed with an incurable genetic disease and you are told you will not only lose your ability to walk and move your arms, but you will die between now and the next 18 months. What would you do? My name is Avery Lynn Canahuati, I'm almost 5 months old, and this has become my reality. But before I die, there's a few things I'd like to accomplish...this is my bucket list and my story. SHARE IT & HELP ME TELL THE WORLD ABOUT SMA!"

This is little Avery's introduction, on her blog Avery's Bucket List. Have you read her blog? Or seen her in the news recently? Avery has a genetic disease clled SMA type 1. Have you heard of it?

On the morning of 30 April, I chanced upon her blog. One of the posts on her blog has a bucket list, a list of things Avery wanna do before she dies, one of which read "Paint a picture for my mommy and daddy". Well, I can't paint on her behalf, cos that doesn't quite count does it? But I thought that little Avery and her parents might like a little hand made gift as keepsake, and here it is.

I've also included a pull out mechanism, where I wrote some stuff (not shown here) for Avery.

Unfortunately, Avery crossed the rainbow bridge later on the same day that I discovered her blog :(

Without me explaining, do you know what SMA is? Well, if you don't, please hop on over to her blog. I want you to hear it from her. So i'm not going to go into details here. But it's a genetic disease where MANY PEOPLE are carriers. You may seem normal, but it might surface in your children, or grandchildren because you passed it on to them. There are no cures, and infants suffering from SMA type 1 will not live past 2.

So what can you do?

The pre-pregnancy test for SMA is COVERED BY INSURANCE, but is not commonly offered (and most people don't opt for it cos they have not heard of it). So if you are thinking of having a child, or know of anyone who is, PLEASE hop on over to Avery's blog, to read about the disease which took her away, and prevent it from happening to yourselves. That's all Avery is asking for... Nothing can be done for her, but EVERYTHING can be done for you, if only you KNOW about SMA.

Just Darling Kaelyn

Kaelyn just turned 1 :) What a princess!

Here's a little present for K, or rather, I would have to say the pressie is more for her Mummy Lynette than for her haha. A rememberance of the princess that she was, before she enter the "terrible 2s and 3s stage"! keke

So yep! Some resin, some flowers, some rub-ons, and lotsa dimension!

Happy birthday sweet K! :)

Happy Birthday Kumquat!

Another birthday present for a January baby. Jing Ting, who decided to call herself "Kumquat" on Facebook. Like WTH?! Kumquat is some exotic asian FRUIT! But whaever, since she wanna be a kumquat, her 12x12 shall read exactly that then lol

Some masking and prima rub-ons...

Some embellishing and fussy cutting...

AND... A HIDDEN CARD! Hidden... behind the photo mat :)

Made it an easel card so that it can stand as a display.

So yep... that's all folks! till next time! :)

12 Days of Christmas: A Gift for Clara

A 12x12 LO for Clara. Featuring her cute niece Chloe :) Hence the layout was titled, C loves c. Big C = Clara, Little c = Chloe! This is also her birthday pressie. Lala is born on the last day of the year! The irony... when the clock strike 12, she ages yet another year! Imagine aging 2 years in a span of 24 hours hahahaha

Truth is, this layout was made using off cuts, leftovers from other projects! Can you identify the products used?

This layout was embellished with Webster's Pages journalling card, and guess what! The case that holds the cards is mighty useful too! Look! Peekaboo! I see you!

So yep, Clara can just swap the display photos as she wish :) Kinda an ever changing layout! Neat much?

Last look! Look at all the cutesy expressions!

Happy Birthday Little D!

A birthday pressie for my buddy's girlfriend. And that automatically makes her my buddy too haha. My pet bird also makes a cameo appearance here :) Love Birdie to bits!

A little side story, I found my bird some 8 years ago. Yea, FOUND. It was during the Avian Flu period, and she was abandoned by her previous owner. My neighbour's golden retrievers found her in the middle of the road and watched over her. I was wondering to myself "Why in the world are the two doggies sitting in the middle of the road?!!?" and went over to take a look, only to find Birdie sitting between them, flightless. Her wings were clipped.

So I brought her back and gave her a home. I found out later that her owner probably abandoned her not just cos of Avian Flu, but cos she had a tumor as well. Her numerous operation cost me probably 10x more than then cost to buy a pet bird her breed. But no way I'm gonna let her go!

Well, all good things have to come to an end though... Her tumor recently relapsed. We scheduled her for another operation, but now being 11 years old *vet estimated* (birds of her breed live between 18-20 years), the vet thinks that she is too old to undergo and survive another operation and advised again it. We were told that she might outlive her tumor as a matter of fact (i.e: she'll die of old age before the tumour can actually claim her). So yea, she's back at home, happy (snappy at times, she really has character!) and we are just enjoying our time with her. Every extra day is a blessing!

Oh oh oh! Talking about snappy, I remembered that we let her out to roam in the garden once, and it rained. We forgot to put her back into the cage, under shelter. And by the time we realized, she was drenched. We opened her cage door for her (she returns home by herself after she have had enough fun, but couldn't do so that day cos the door was closed), and stretch our hands out for her to step on so that we can save her the walk back to her cage. She snarled at us, fussed and hissed under her breath, refuse to stand on our hands and walked back to her cage herself while grumbling, and ignored us for two days. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Parrots are so intelligent lol

Altered Shadow Box with Birdcage (and a cutesy Paper Mache Bird! Lurveee)

Completed this shadowbox recently in class with Jaz, but made a few adjustments this couple of days to include some little thingies I like... Including the cutesy paper mache bird! <3 to bits!!

Some close ups of the fussy cuttings.

That blank frame is where my title is gonna go, will also bling up the area after I paste my alphas down. But I just couldn't resist sharing the pics first before completing it! hehe

Daddy's Girl

A special gift for a special little girl :)

Newborn daughter of my godbrother, meimei of my Round Round. Getting chubbier by the day.

Though you two are living miles apart now, hopefully by the time you meet you'll know how to play and laugh with each other.

As we go on
We remember
All the times we
Had together
And as our lives change
From whatever
We will still be

Angels Altered Box

A pretty romantic box in Webster's designer Jaz signature style. Pretty much?!

Jaz's original design was meant to be the album cover of a 6-page accordion fold album actually. But I never quite like accordion fold albums cos I can't jam pack them with embellies due to the nature of the folds. So I decided to make it into a box instead.

But... it isn't just a box! Look! here's the show stopper! Jaz original design came with the hinges as embellishments. But I thought it was a waste that they weren't functional, so I made a secret compartment under the layerings! Good for those little jewellery and stuff! Weeee....!

I really liked the layers of this box cover, so i translated the design onto a 12x12 layout for my dearest Granduncle and Grandaunt. Am closer to them then my grandparents, cos I was brought up by them since I was 2 months old :) Much love!
